Reem Abdul Rahim. Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

Landscape.jpg

Hi there, I’m Reem, I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Q) with training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT), and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). My skills can support people ages 18 and older, couples struggling to connect, those experiencing anxiety or depression, new parents who need support with postpartum mental health concerns, and newcomers to Canada. I am fluent in English and Arabic.

My life began in the United Arab Emirates, and as a teenager, I pursued my high school education at the University of London and the University of Cambridge in England. Although psychology has been an area of interest for me since I was very young, I was also drawn towards structure and learning how things worked. So, at the age of seventeen, I immigrated to Canada to study Engineering at McGill University in Montreal.

SPIRIT,AND TRANSFORMATION

For years, I worked as an engineer in Montreal, became a mother, but a different path continued to call to me. Growing up, I had an aunt who was a well-known psychologist in the UAE, she always inspired me and was a great source of strength within my family. As a young person, I was often the person that friends came to for advice, and emotional support, and a small part of me always wanted to follow in my aunt’s footsteps. Although I rose in the corporate world, I was once again seeing friends and colleagues come to me for help. I saw the importance of work-life balance and so many people in the field of engineering lacked that and suffered from burnout, depression, and anxiety. I began to dream about doing something to help these people and to pursue a more meaningful career path for my own life in the field of mental health.

I decided to go back to university and study Psychology, with a focus on the importance of the early years in relation to child development. During my time of study, I became even more attuned to the importance of work-life balance and began to spend more moments in nature, with animals, and educating myself in the fields of nutrition, color therapy, and reiki.

YOUR FOCUS, YOUR LIFE

A remarkable life opportunity made my path cross with that of the director of a vocational institution where I began working as a tutor while pursuing my own personal development as a coach. These moments of supporting and motivating my students while they learned to adapt to big life change truly touched me and I was inspired to write a book, entitled “Coach, Inspire, Empower. Change your focus, change your life”. From writing this book I continued to transform my own life. I moved to Ontario, took up fitness training, learned Neuro-Linguistic Programing, and pursued my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology.

Now my journey has brought me to SoulScape Services. As a psychotherapist and person with unique life experiences, I am here to offer support to you.
