Shaun Mazzocco. Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), MA, BA.


I’m a registered psychotherapist (Q) and support clients ages 16 and older. I work with folks who are having trouble balancing their busy lives, or dealing with life transitions and losing touch with their true selves along the way. I also have a special interest in supporting performers and athletes who are struggling with performance anxiety or creative blocks. My therapy approach is holistic and integrative with clinical support. I offer a variety of practices such as Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Mindfulness-based approaches. The focus will lie on the aspects of your life that you want to improve, such as strengthening relationships, recovering from grief & loss, navigating life transitions, improving sexual function, spirituality, family, self-expression/authenticity, and integration of psychedelic experiences.

If you’re dealing with rejection of some form or another on a regular basis, you may find yourself questioning your worth, or feeling like you’re not quite enough. I work with professionals from various industries who might be dealing with imposter syndrome, performance anxiety, nerves around public speaking, and the many other issues that can arise when striving for excellence. Sometimes the cost of trying to have a big impact is that it can take a big toll. Athletes who lose competitions, get cut from the team, or getting benched or decreased playing time may feel frustrated, sad, lost, or questioned a lot about themselves. Actors and performers who endure countless auditions without getting the role can feel angry, scared, or completely disconnected from themselves. These feelings can lead you to develop behaviours that are unhelpful or thoughts that become obsessive in the never-ending strive to become enough. 


I’ve been there. I played competitive football, basketball, and hockey until I finished my undergrad when I became involved in boxing and martial arts where I also competed as an amateur. I’ve been an actor my entire life, and continue to work in film and television. I know being an athlete or performer comes with its unique set of challenges. I’m here to help you sort through the stuff that’s going on in your head and to help you develop the mental skills and confidence to thrive as your authentic self in sports, on stage or in film, in your relationships, and in life. 


In our time together, we will discuss the issues you’re experiencing, and develop strategies tailored to YOU. Like an actor who learns about a character in order to perform their role, we will learn about YOU. We will explore why you might do what you do, how you can get in touch with your true self, overcome personal obstacles and challenges, and ultimately write your life story - the way YOU want to! If you’ve felt like you’ve lost touch with yourself, something is missing in your life, or as though you weren’t enough, I’m here. Together we will explore ways to experience more happiness, resilience, and confidence.
